The Client

Our client is one of the largest Central Government Departments; however, because this is an on-going recruitment campaign with additional roles being awarded to us it would be inappropriate for us to describe them in more detail at this time.

The Challenge

GPA, along with three other Recruitment Companies were invited to participate in a tender for the recruitment of 35 procurement roles, ranging from Director to Buyer status. It was made clear to us that the client wanted to work in partnership with the successful recruitment company; there were many internal stakeholders that would be involved in the process and who had their own role priorities and some of the roles and salaries on offer were considered to be ‘less than attractive’ when trying to target both public and private sector candidates. Our client had also been through a major transformation programme and was now looking to recruit candidates that could manage some major procurement programmes. Their intent was clear – they wanted to bring in people who could help to integrate, build and leverage the department’s procurement capability.

GPA’s Role

GPA was awarded the tender and we were asked to recruit 35 procurement professionals within Category Management and principally within IT and Estates/FM. Compliance was also a key recruitment requirement. At the time of going to market, we were not able to publicly advertise what we and our client were hoping to achieve.

The Solution

Using a range of tools and techniques, GPA developed a strategic campaign plan, incorporating some fairly tight time targets, we went live with our campaign. We attracted candidates through a range of on-line/off-line methodologies, including Search, Job Boards, Web Sites, LinkedIn, Twitter and a range of networking forums. All targeted candidates were initially pre-screened to ensure that they met our client’s criteria and they were subsequently interviewed using our ProFit Profiler to assess their procurement capability against our agreed criteria. Psychometric assessment was also included as part of our structured process.

The Result to date

GPA successfully placed 42 candidates against an original brief of 35. The change in Government brought with it a recruitment freeze, however, the Head of Procurement, Line Managers and the Project Lead for this campaign have all been really pleased with the service. We have also received high praise from most if not all of the candidates processed.
